Feed what small fish hunt in nature.

Copepods are the tiny crustaceans small fish eat in the wild, and the same animals already living in a healthy natural tank. Arctic copepods from cold northern waters are rich in omega-3 fats and naturally contain astaxanthin, the pigment behind red and orange coloring.

The problem

Flake-only diets leave small fish and juveniles missing the whole-prey nutrition they evolved on. Many frozen foods are too big for tetras, rasboras or young fish to eat.

The Father Fish way

The Father Fish method is built on a living food web. Frozen copepods bring whole prey from that same food web to fish your tank can't fully feed on its own.

Your plan

  1. Store it frozen and refreeze any leftovers right away.
  2. Break off a small piece and feed what your fish eat in 2–3 minutes.
  3. Rotate it in. Use it as a regular supplement alongside a quality flake or pellet.

What you get

  • 2 oz cup of frozen Arctic copepods
  • Suits small-mouthed fish: tetras, rasboras, bettas, dwarf cichlids and juvenile angelfish and discus. Too large for newly hatched fry.
  • Fine for freshwater and marine fish
  • Ships frozen with a cold pack, Monday to Wednesday. If it arrives thawed, put it straight back in the freezer.

Why it matters

Small fish on flake alone often look washed out. Fed whole prey, they show more natural color and feeding behavior.

FAQ

  • Are they alive? No. They're frozen whole copepods.
  • Freshwater safe? Yes.
  • Will they improve color? They contain natural astaxanthin, which supports red and orange coloring. Results depend on the fish.
  • For fry? Too big for newly hatched fry. Use Frozen Rotifers or Live Microfauna first.
