A green staple for fish that graze.

Nutra Preta Cool Flake Algae is a green flake built on spirulina and kelp, with marine protein and Arctic copepods. It's dried at 145–175°F instead of the roughly 300°F used for conventional flake, to hold on to more of the natural nutrients and pigments.

The problem

Grazers such as mbuna, Tropheus, mollies and many Geophagus are built to eat algae and plant matter all day. Standard high-protein flake leaves them missing the greens their guts are designed for.

The Father Fish way

In a natural tank, grazers pick at algae and biofilm between meals. Nutra Preta Algae backs that up with a green staple that isn't padded with cheap fillers.

Your plan

  1. Feed small amounts 1–2 times a day, only what's eaten in a couple of minutes.
  2. Rotate it with a protein food, such as Nutra Preta Cool Flake or frozen copepods, for omnivores.
  3. Store it sealed, cool and dry.

What you get

  • 1 pint container of flake, sold by volume
  • Ingredients: marine protein, spirulina, kelp, Arctic copepods, natural vitamins and minerals
  • Cool-dried at 145–175°F

Why it matters

Herbivores fed like carnivores often struggle. Fed greens, they look and act like the grazers they are.

FAQ

  • Is a pint a weight? No. A pint is a volume measure. You get a pint container of flake.
  • Is it good for mbuna and Tropheus? It's a green, spirulina-based flake, which suits algae-grazing cichlids.
  • What does "cool" mean? The flake is dried at 145–175°F rather than baked at around 300°F like conventional flake.
  • How is it different from Nutra Preta Cool Flake? That's the color-and-growth formula. This is the green grazer formula.
